A standing-room-only crowd showed up for WORLDCITYS monthly Connections event at the Sofitel Hotel when China was in the spotlight. A panel of experts discussed Chinas impact on South Florida trade and investment, on U.S. jobs, on global food prices and on the unprecedented prosperity in Latin America. The panelists were Grace He, vice president of Chinese investment firm US Capital Holdings, which is developing mixed-use retail and living community in Plantation; Jan Braeley, president of ThinMedia, a Miami-based design company that produces magazines and films in China; Bill Lawton, a senior trade specialist at the Department of Commerce, who was posted in Shanghai; and Celeste Lipworth, group director of international strategy and operations at Ryder System, who oversees the companys expansion in Asia.
