Stuck at an airport? MIA called one of five best

Miami International Airport is one of the five best U.S. airports if you happen to get stuck for some reason, according to SeatGuru.

SeatGuru based its selection on “their amenities and attractions designed to help travelers relax and be entertained and pampered” during a longer-than-expected layover or other delay.

Joining MIA on the list are San Francisco International Airport, Salt Lake City International Airport, Portland International Airport and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

MIA made the list for providing an international dining experience with 30 restaurant choices that vary from Cuban to Japanese cuisine. Travelers can get manicures, pedicures, massages, spray tanning and a haircut. MIA also has ongoing art exhibits, and a center for food and refreshments exclusively for the U.S. military.

San Francisco International Airport has Boudin’s Bakery, known for its sourdough bread; along with chances to shop at upscale stores like Burberry, Coach and Gucci. The airport also has an area for massages and facials while children can play in an area just for them. Museum exhibits and shower facilities are also included.

Salt Lake City International Airport offers, among other things, free Wi-Fi throughout the airport, views of the Wasatch Mountains and numerous restaurants. In the past, it has won awards in pollution prevention, recycling and as the best on-time airport for departures.

Portland International Airport has been named Nation’s Best Airport by Conde Nast Traveler three years in a row. It is also “eco-friendly” with new solar panels producing electricity. It has free Wi-Fi, no sales tax and local restaurants like Pizza Schmizza, Rose City Cafe and Laurelwood Brewing Co.

McCarran International Airport has countless slot machines and a Jose Cuervo “Tequilaria.” Accompanying these amenities are the aviation museum, massage locations, an oxygen bar and a hotel souvenir shop. It also offers free Wi-Fi as well as storage lockers and room check in for the MGM Grand that’s only five miles away.
