WorldCity announced today that it has appointed Liz Alicea-Velez, Executive Vice President of Latin America and the Caribbean for Western Union, to serve as one of the first three members of the CEO Club Advisory Board.

At the same time, WorldCity announced it has appointed two other members to the CEO Club Advisory Board, Henry Martinez, the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Discovery Networks Latin America, and James Hogan, the Senior Managing Director, Latin America, for Medtronic. WorldCity also appointed three members to the new advisory boards for HR Connections, Government Affairs Connections and Marketing Connections.

Alicea-Velez and the other 11 board members will be responsible for overseeing the growth and projection of their specific event series, all relatively new, and in helping WorldCity create the first “Best Practices Manual” for Latin America.

“Liz was one of the first speakers at an early CEO Club and impressed us all with her command of her job and of Latin America and the Caribbean. Western Union, because of the services it provides, also has its finger on the pulse of the region,” said WorldCity President Ken Roberts. “I am excited that Liz has accepted and is willing to help.

“Liz is fortunate to be paired with two other great resources, Henry Martinez from Discovery and Jim Hogan from Medtronic.”

The CEO Club is held six times per year and open to anyone overseeing a multinational with either South Florida operations or an interest in Latin America.

The three advisory board members for Government Affairs Connections, open to public policy and government affairs executives at South Florida’s multinationals, are Malvina Longoria of MasterCard International, Don John of FedEx and Rafael Jaen Williamson of Chevron. It is held six times per year and sponsored by Fowler Rodriguez Valdez-Fauli and Chevron.

The advisory board members for HR Connections, which is also held six times per year and is for the top human resources executives at each of the roughly 1,100 multinationals in South Florida, are Zulay Ciffoni of Canon, Laura Quevedo of Diageo and Carlos Hernandez of American Airlines. It is sponsored by the Universit of Miami School of Business Administration.

The three board members for Marketing Connections, open to top marketing officials with the South Florida-based multinationals, are Cesar Sebrosa of A&E Ole Networks, Roberto Ricossa or Nortel and Bertha Merikanskas of LAN.
