WorldCity’s Tech Connections, TUESDAY, February 11th: One-on-One with Manny Medina
::cck::11169::/cck::

Tech Connections In large part, entrepreneur Manny Medina has really helped kick-start the movement to transform Miami into a true tech hub for the Americas. You may know him as the founder and CEO of Terremark Worldwide, which he sold to Verizon in 2011. But more recently, in addition to funding his own tech investment partnership, Manny has created the non-profit Technology Foundation of the Americas, which is inaugurating the eMerge Americas technology trade show this May. Surrounded by a myriad of activities, planned in conjunction with the show, and meant to attract close to 5000 attendees, it’s hoped that the show will become an Art Basel for technology, and truly place Miami on the map for technology. It’s our pleasure to have Manny in a special one-on-one conversation with WorldCity CEO Ken Roberts, as he details the development of his efforts and shares his vision on the opportunities for Miami to become a true center of excellence for technology. Don’t miss this special discussion.

Manny began his career in 1974 as a CPA for PricewaterhouseCoopers, and founded Terremark in 1980. Originally a commercial real estate company, its initial focus was on complex infrastructure projects, before it became a carrier-neutral provider of managed IT infrastructure services for Fortune 500 enterprises and federal government agencies. Among the key accomplishments for Terremark were the rebuilding of vital infrastructure in Kuwait following the Gulf War and, later, the construction of the NAP of the Americas, an early private-sector internet exchange. Earlier, Manny had also founded TransAtlantic Bank, helping the Miami bank grow to more than $600 million in assets. He has been a regular guest on top business news networks such as CNBC, Bloomberg TV and Fox Business, Manny has also been interviewed by national and international media outlets on topics including the rising adoption of cloud computing, the dynamics driving key government IT initiatives, and his personal experience as a successful Cuban exile. A native of Matanzas, Cuba, Manny immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 13 in 1965. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1974. You really don’t want to miss this incredible event.
