Trade Connections

Three good Reasons to attend this event:

First, you will be among the first to glimpse the annual trade data, which will have been released just days before the event. Trade will almost certainly be down at seven of the nation’s top 15 U.S. Customs districts, including here in South Florida. That’s highly unusual, particularly when the overall economy is not tanking.  I will talk about pockets of opportunity in the data and potholes to avoid.

Second, one of our panelists will be Peter Quinter, a partner with GrayRobinson, is one of South Florida’s – and the nation’s – most knowledgeable attorneys focused on import-export trade issues. From civil to criminal, from exports to imports, from grey market to perishables, Peter knows the legal landscape as well as anyone.

Third, joining Peter as a panelist will be James Varnadoe. James is managing director of KVR Trade Finance, which provides exporters financing of their receivables, with a focus on Latin America. Risk assessment, then, is his business. Over the course of his career he has worked for the accounting firm Arthur D. Little and as an attorney with Greenberg Traurig and Holland & Knight.

Even the program will be a “keeper,” since it will be filled with all sorts of helpful data.
